Abstract

Success in breastfeeding is influenced by the mother's readiness to face the breastfeeding process, so that the mother can provide maximum breast milk (breast milk) and avoid breastfeeding problems. Sore nipples result in breast infections caused by candida albicans infection so that the nipples and areola often become inflamed and painful during breastfeeding. One of the causes of sore nipples is due to incorrect breastfeeding techniques and lack of knowledge. The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between knowledge about breastfeeding techniques and the incidence of sore nipples in postpartum mothers at BPS Agustina Sitinjak, Sungai Tapah Village, Tanjung Medan District, Rokan Hilir Regency in 2024. The research method used was an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach which was carried out to see the relationship between one variable with another variable. Research results: Of the 60 respondents, there were 40 respondents (66%) whose knowledge of breastfeeding techniques for postpartum mothers was in the good category for the incidence of sore nipples in the good category, while 20 respondents (34%) had knowledge of breastfeeding techniques for postpartum mothers in the bad category for the incidence of sore nipples in the bad category. . Suggestions for further research are expected to examine more sources and references related to this research.
