Abstract
Advantageous near surface residual stress states, being of crucial importance for performance f components, can already be established by adequate machining strategies avoiding cost intensive post treatments. In the present work, residual stress and integral width distributions in hard-turned specimens (AISI 6150) are characterized in dependence of processing pa ameters and workpiece hardness. In order to provide a basis for robust control schemes, experimental results are analyzed using various data driven methods. It is revealed that sophisticated approaches such as Takagi-Sugeno multi-models accurately predict process- property relationships and eventually outperform standard approaches such as multiple linear regression.
